How I Work

A high proportion of my work is from repeat customers, and I believe this is a testament to my success in providing a flexible and high quality service.

All projects are based on a written (e-mail) agreement of what is required, what it will cost and when it will be delivered. I am always open to questions, feedback and suggestions, and will never take on any work I do not feel confident of delivering successfully.

I do not subcontract any work unless by prior arrangement.

Click on each of the links below for a more detailed guide to my terms of engagement.

Quotations

I can provide quotations for proposals of any size and will happily discuss the requirements and scope of a potential project without obligation.

Projects can be quoted and paid for in UK Sterling, US Dollars or Euros.

Please contact me if you think I might be able to help you with a writing assignment. I normally reply to all e-mails within 24 hours.

Scheduling

As a full-time freelance writer, my schedule is very flexible and I can usually accommodate short or altered deadlines. I never commit to anything I am not confident of delivering on time, and provide a scheduled delivery date at the beginning of every project.

Work is normally scheduled on a first come, first served basis. If you have a particularly urgent job then please contact me directly and I will tell you whether I am able to meet your deadline.

Rates

Once the scope of a project has been agreed, I will quote a fixed fee for the whole project, broken down into units (e.g. per article). I will also quote per word if this is more appropriate for the work being undertaken.

I do not normally work on an hourly rate but am happy to do so on request.

My rates vary according to the nature of the project, its scale, and in some cases its timescale. I work extensively online and believe that I offer competitive rates for all types of work.

Payment

Projects will normally be invoiced in full upon initial delivery, with 30 day payment terms. For new clients, I may require a deposit at the start of a project, with the balance due on project delivery. This will be specified in my quotation, or otherwise in writing before commencement of the project.

Projects of more than one month in duration will be invoiced monthly – this will be made clear in my quotation or otherwise in writing before commencement of the project.

For work performed on a Work for Hire/ghostwriting basis, copyright and ownership will only pass to the client once full payment has been received.

Payment for UK customers can be by UK sterling cheque, Paypal, bankers draft or postal order.

Payment for non-UK customers is by direct bank transfer or through Paypal only and can be in US Dollars, UK Sterling or Euros.

Cancellation

If it is necessary for you or me to cancel a project after it has commenced, payment will be due for the work completed up to that point, which will be passed over as per the project terms. No other obligations shall exist on either side.

Confidentiality

Much of my work is performed on a “work for hire” or ghostwriting basis, and I fully-respect client confidentiality in such cases – you can be sure that your work will not be reused or included in my portfolio without prior permission.

I am happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at the beginning of a project if required.
